When Weimar democracy collapsed, German Jews lost all legal protection. Hatred of Jews was the foundation stone of the Third Reich, and under Hitler it was not a crime to murder them. Eichmann could, therefore, claim that he had not acted illegally. There was a crime but there were no criminals - "the banality of evil". VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket.
