Softcover. Etat : New. 1a.ed. en esta colección. 190x125 mm. Colección Austral Contemporánea | Serie Narrativa, 1038. 213 p. Rústica. Sprache: Spanisch, NUEVO / NEU / NEW. Leiden - Boston, Brill, 2014. 413 pp. As new. Hardcover. The existence of a early Spanish translation of Erasmus's Encomium Moriae has been matter of speculation and unsuccessful research for over a century. This volume offers for the first time the edition of a seventeenth-century manuscript discovered at Ets Haim/Livraria Montezinos (Amsterdam) by its editors. They demonstrate that it is not only the first known early modern Spanish translation of Erasmus's chef-d'oeuvre, but a copy of a much earlier version, composed in mid-sixteenth century. This scholarly edition has been arranged for an easy textual collation with the canonical edition (ASD IV: 3) and translation (CWE 27) of Erasmus's Praise of Folly and includes an extensive apparatus of footnotes devoted both to this version and to Erasmus's Moriae Encomium itself.…

240 nn. Bll. mit zahlr. großteils fast ganzseit. Textholzschnitten. - VD 16, J 724. - "In 1531, Melanchthon wrote a preface for a new edition of The Sphere of Joannes de Sacrobosco. Sacrobosco's Sphere was a medieval work and had been printed numerous times since the advent of printing, but never as a cheap octavo that students could afford. Melanchthon intended his edition of The Sphere as a textbook for students at Wittenberg, with his preface telling students why astronomy was an important avenue of study for a devout Christian. The book was often reprinted in student format, and nearly always with Melanchthon's preface included" (Linda Hall Library). - Mit mehreren hs. Randnotizen und Anstreichungen.
