Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Fifth Edition. 273pp. Full brown tree leather, gilt titles and decoration on spine. Wear to extremities, rubbing at corners. Binding remains firm, spine straight. Marbled endpapers, previous owners bookplate (Charles Comte de la Vaulx, Baron de Vrecourt, engraved by Dominique Collin) on front pastedown. Engraved frontispiece of electro-therapeutic experiment. Nollet was a rival of Benjamin Franklins in defining the character and origins of electricity. His Lettres sur lElectricité pushed back on Franklins theories, though when Franklin attempted to replicate Nollets experiments, the results departed dramatically from the Abbes reports. Volume also contains four folding engraved plates. Handsome, uncommon edition of a text by an early investigator of the phenomenon of electricity, albeit one whose ideas have long been superseded. Size: 8vo. Book.
