This work marks the 30th anniversary of the Rolling Stones's 10th album, Exile on Main St. Dominique Tarle, the photographer featured, stayed with the band during their six month stint in the south of France, where they recorded the afore-mentioned album. Tarle's photography remained unpublished for 30 years but now offers us a revealing perspective of the band and its members. The villa, Nellcote, also housed numerous other celebrities, including William S. Burroughs, Terry Southern, and Gram Parsons. It was used as the local Gestapo headquarters during WW2. Quarto. Illustrated throughout with black and white and colour photography by Dominique Tarle. Original yellow quarter leather, spine lettered in black, blue cloth sides, pictorial paper label on front cover, photographic endpapers, edges gilt. Housed in the publisher's illustrated cloth slipcase with pictorial board sides. A little rubbing to rear cover and to slipcase: near-fine.
