Ajouter au panierPaperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book documents the Smithsonian Institution's explorations and fieldwork in 1921. The organized body of knowledge that the Smithsonian has become since its founding has been hard-earned and pursued under every condition imaginable. In 1921, the Institution's scientists conducted expeditions into the Canadian Rockies, the Dominican Republic, and Alaska, while its paleontologists unearthed fossils in Tennessee, Illinois, and Arizona. The author paints a vivid picture of the conditions and challenges of fieldwork in the early 20th century. The work of the Smithsonian in this period contributed to advances in our understanding of the natural world, as reflected in the collection of biological, zoological, and anthropological material for the exhibition and study series in the National Museum of Natural History, a branch of the Smithsonian. The book celebrates an unforgettable year of exploration conducted by the Smithsonian, offering a historical account of the people and ideas that shaped the study of the natural sciences in the early 20th century. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
