Rare first edition of an anonymous Sunday school tale of a teasing boy. Duodecimo, original blue cloth with gilt titles to the spine and blind stamped borders, with a wood engraved frontispiece. In good condition with wear, chipping, and soiling. Only in Fun, or The Teasing Boy (1866) belongs to the enormous and now largely forgotten literature of the American Sunday school library, the small cloth volumes of moral fiction that denominational houses turned out by the thousand and that supplied a great deal of the reading available to American children before commercial publishers took the field. Books of this kind were published without an author's name, the writer identified for readers only by the earlier titles in the same series, and here those are given as Money, Far Away, Lessons for the Little Ones and Discontented Little Girl.…
