First Edition. A first edition copy of this famous collection. 1229pp. With the famous lengthy introduction by Sayers. Unfortunately in poor condition as the spine has detached from the covers. Internally good, with a contemporary inscritpion to the fep and some light foxing and handling marks. Fair only - a reading copy.

There are 1147 pages to this approximately 5 1/4 by 7 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch volume. The pages are toned but not brittle, the end papers have light foxing, but it does not appear text pages are foxed. The black cloth covered boards have red lettering on the spine. The corner are bruised and there is light wear to the board's edges. The dust jacket is present but has paper loss at the bottom right corner of the front panel, a larger piece on the spine and small areas at the folds at the rear flap. The back panel also has creases and folds. The jacket overall is soiled and has some taped areas. The dust wrapper is currently protected by a clear removable cover. A previous owner also indicted on the back flap that the Third Series had already been published.
