This volume includes "The Story of the Three Bears": this is the first variant of the tale in which the human visitor is an old woman. Here are other tales from French, Spanish, and Chinese sources. Here also is a different version of "The Three Little Pigs". It is known that J.R.R. Tolkien had read and commented upon this book, so he must have known "The Enchanted Watch" and "The Enchanted Ring", at least one of which may have given JRRT some ideas.
