The Grid Compass(written GRiD by its manufacturer GRiD Systems Corporation) was arguablythe first laptop computer, when the initial model, the 1101 wasintroduced in April 1982. The computer was designed by Britishindustrial designer Bill Moggridge in 1979, and first sold three yearslater.
