Laid in is a price list which, in the intro., states that Bevins could have shipped this collection to Europe to make more money but he wanted to keep it in America. This wasn't an auction but a sale and the prices were for what each arm would be sold . I f prices weren't realized the remnant would be shipped to Europe. Covers creased at the edges.

Bivens, Jr. next to his picture opposite the copyright page, good, oversized (9 by 11) spiral bound paperback shows wrinkles and tears at edges, scotch tape mend at head of spine, soil and staining to wraps, paragraph and couple of flintlocks circles in ink at page 68 and plate 29, and with some other mild wear. 202 pages featuring 96 plates. Solid and perfectly readable copy of this work "based on the pictorial and descriptive catalog of the Frank E. Bivens, Jr. inspirational collection of varitype firearms and accessories.

Internally the plates and text are clean however the covers show rust where the ring-wire has rested against the paper. Based on the pictorial and descriptive catalog of the Frank E. Bivins, Jr. inspirational collection of varitype firearms and accessories. Inscribed, signed and dated on the ffep by F. Theodore Dexter the cataloger. Inscribed to H. McCallum which is Harold McCallum who at one time had the world's largest rifle collection, most of them lever action Winchesters. He used to set up a display of his collection at gun shows that was 120 feet long and was used by promoters as a show draw. Laid in is a 1997 newspaper article discussing the man and his collection.
