Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. Jackets by Mon Mohan (illustrateur). 1st Edition. The set of three books of 'The Helliconia Trilogy', all first editions, first impressions. 'Spring' (pub 1982, 361pp), is an ex library copy, in a library binding, with usual stamps and defects, neither 'Summer' or 'Winter' are ex library. 'Summer' (1983, 398pp), 'Winter' (1985, 285pp), all have some edge wear to tops and bottoms of jackets and spines, corners slightly bruised, spines very slightly faded, none are price clipped, no inscriptions, internally clean tight and almost square, overall a vg+ set, map endpapers. The three volumes of Brian Aldiss's (1925-2017), monumental 'Helliconia Trilogy'. Helliconia is a planet that, due to the massively eccentric orbit of its own sun around another star, experiences seasons that lasts eons. Whole civilisations grow in the Spring, flourish in the Summer and then die in the brutal winters. The human like inhabitants have been profoundly changed by their experience of this harsh cycle. In orbit above the planet a terran mission struggles to observe and understand the effects on society of such a massive climatic impact. Thoroughly researched, minutely organised, full of action, pulp references and deep drama this is a classic trilogy. Quite a scarce set, extra postage will be required.
