Guyford Stever was chairman or member of numerous advisory committees to the U.S. government. Heinz Rudolf Pagels (February 19, 1939 - July 23, 1988) was an American physicist, a professor of physics at Rockefeller University, the chief executive officer of the New York Academy of Sciences. Pagels' work in chaos theory provided the inspiration for the character of Ian Malcolm in Michael Crichton's novel Jurassic Park.
