Arthur Pearson, Ltd., 1901. First Edition of George Griffith's rare early space opera science fiction classic, 'A Honeymoon in Space'. Octavo, green cloth boards with black, gray and white imprinting and illustration at front cover and spine; 8 illustration plates by Stanley Wood and Harold Piffard; top edge dyed; 302 numbered pp. + 1 pp. with recto bearing Gresham Press / Unwin imprint, verso blank; + 8 leaves ads (16 pp., being numbered 1 - 8 and 1 - 8). Fading at bottom half of cover cloth; spine darkening (scan); stain at lower right corner, rear cover; trasnparent old stain at front endpapers; front hinge starting. Remarkably quite free of foxing, and there is no writing anywhere. Notably better than Good, but with a bit too much color loss from the cloth of the binding, at places, to merit a solitary "Very" before the Good. About Very Good, -ish. See scans. They're worth a thousand words. A very early - and very scarce - classic of what would become the kind of science fiction most loved by those who know what it is; oddly influential on diverse later adventures in the arts, but which mostly has something at its heart which is also at ours. Do some research. A very hard to find First, soon enough to be impossible. Please see scans. L18n.
