Bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. Copy 742 of 1000 copies. Illustrated with four wood engraved decorations by Robert Gibbings. The first Golden Cockerel book was by Coppard, as were others consistently. [Schwartz, Coppard Bibliography, p. 60-61; Chanticleer no.74]. This was over-subscribed in Britain before it was written by Coppard, so a third more copies were made, with a leather, not cloth, spine, and introducing the first use of the new Golden Cockerel fount, designed by Eric Gill. Laid in is the Note To Subscribers announcing the changes.
