The Preface refers to it as a ÒPictorial EditionÓ that is Òin every respect equal to its predecessors, and in some points superior.Ó Though pagination differs between the 1872 edition (108 pp.) and the 1873 and 1874 editions (76 pp.), what textual differences there are between those editions and the fourth edition is something we cannot determine without being able to compare them. All editions are scarce, with OCLC recording a combined total of seven copies of the 1872, 1873, and 1874 editions, the majority of them in the U.K Twelvemo. 108 pp. Chromolithographic frontispiece and every page with four chromolithographic illustrations, each accompanied by a Bible verse. Blank leaves with ruled lines are bound in opposite each page, with a handfull filled in in ink with names and birth years on the relevant days. Neat three line inscription, gifting the book to a brother from his sister Annie, dated 1874, on the front free endpaper. Publishers highly decorative brown cloth binding with black decorations to the rear board. The front board and spine are decorated and lettered in black and gilt. Bevelled edges. Yellow coated endpapers. All edges gilt. Aside from the few names written into the diary dates, and a little gentle rubbing to the edges of the boards this is a fine copy of this beautifully produced book.…
