He writes to his publishers Cadell & Davies, "I have not received here the proof sheet of THE INQUIRY which you promised me. I propose to be in Cork Street agagin on wednesday, & I shall be obliged to you if you will let me find mr Gilpins's Catalogue of Drawings on my table when I arrive . " Cadell & Davies published the Sale Catalogue of Gilpin's drawings in 1802; Mitford was an old friend of his from Surrey.
