La première date de 1746.Reliure plein veau écaille de l'époque. Dos à 5 nerfs orné et doré avec pièce de titre maroquin rouge. Tranches rouges. Roulette dorée sur les coupes. Dos et coins frottés. Pas de rousseur. Bon état, intérieur très frais. Format in-12°(17x10).Luc de Clapiers, marquis de Vauvenargues, (1715-1747) publia la 1ère édition sous le voile de l'anonymat. Voltaire, qui n'avait jamais douté de son talent, incita Vauvenargues à reprendre son ouvrage pour rendre le livre excellent d'un bout à l'autre en vue d'une seconde édition. Cette édition, est plus fidèle aux idées du moraliste.
