Ajouter au panierOriginal Cloth. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Fair. 1st Edition. Two items, both warmly inscribed by John Gielgud to Rosamond Gilder. The first contains Gielgud's own account: "The Hamlet Tradition, Some Notes on Costume Scenery, and Stage Business" (pp. 111-171) and is the first British Edition, VG, the dust jacket chipped and repaired and lacking more than half of the spine paper. Images of the actor are on the upper cover. The second item is the first edition (1938, 8vo) of "John Gielgud, Camera Studies by Gordon Anthony" also inscribed to Gilder, dated but not signed and including a quote from Hamlet. This copy is G+, with the jacket repaired, slightly chipped and soiled at the edges. There could be no better association copies. Sheridan Morley, in his biography of Gielgud, writes of Gilder's book: "It is, perhaps, the most remarkably detailed account of any one actor in any one role that has ever been published [and] remains the most minutely detailed and descriptive account ever written of John at work" (p. 158). Association Copy.
