A fine book bound in the publisher's black cloth boards with bright unfaded gilt lettering to the spine. Clean with no bumping to the cloth, with no pushing to the spine tips. Internally, very clean indeed with no foxing or finger marks to the inner text. The red top stain is bright and without fading. The neatly price clipped dust wrapper is in very good condition with light fading to the spine, also with very light chipping to the spine tips. There is a faint water mark to the base of the wrapper, else a nice clean example. The Honourable Schoolboy is a fine book bound in the publisher's navy blue cloth boards with bright unfaded gilt lettering to the spine. Clean with no bumping to the cloth, but with just a millimeter of light fading to the spine tips. Internally, the page blocks are very clean with no foxing present, as are the inner pages that are also very clean with no foxing or finger marks inset. The book is the correct UK edition with the Hong Kong map end- papers. The dust wrapper is in very good condition with a shallow chip to the spine tip, also with a little rubbing to the extremities, but with very nice colouring. There is a faint vertical crease line to the front flap fold. The publisher's printed price of £4.95net in the UK is present to the front flap. Smiley's People is a fine book bound in the publisher's blue cloth boards with bright unfaded gilt lettering to the spine. Clean with no bumping to the cloth or to the spine tips. Internally, the closed top page block shows minuscule foxing. The other closed texts blocks are clean with no foxing present. The inner pages a clean with no foxing or finger marks inset. The neatly price clipped dust wrapper is in very good or better condition with no chips or tears and with lovely colouring. There is light rubbing to the extremities with some light surface loss to the edge of the front flap fold. There is no fading to the red portion of the lower spine. This title as with the other two in the set are free of any previous owner names or inscriptions and look un-read. Two of the three titles have been neatly price clipped, but present well. We are limited to five pictures on Abe books, there are extra pictures of this set on our website. Please obtain a postage quote if purchasing from outside of the UK, due to the books weight.

The Honourable Schoolboy (publisher's variant in blue boards and with map endpapers) is Very Good: firmly bound; fading and wrinkling to the spine tips; toning to the edge of the page block; a handful of isolated spots/marks. A superb later impression set of The Karla Trilogy, with all three volumes signed by the author on matching plates to the ffep: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy ('This impression 1985' stated), The Honourable Schoolboy (6th impression, 1982), Smiley's People (4th impression, 1980). Each volume is Fine: tight and square binding in sharp blue boards; crisp and clean, presenting as unread (just a tiny trace of spotting to the top-edge of the page block of TTSS). The dustwrappers are Fine, or very nearly Fine (HS): bright, vibrant and unfaded; minor wrinkling to the spine tips of TTSS, a hint of rubbing to the extremities of SP, and a 6mm closed tear to the top of the spine of HS. The wrappers are presented in removable, archival-quality Brodart protective covers. Excellent copies with the distinction of the author's signature. All books are all very good in like unclipped wrappers - some fading to the spines - wear to corners and a little light colour touching to the head of the spine of volume 1. A neat name and date to volumes 2 and 3. All now protected in Brodart wrappers. The first volume was the basis for the 1970s series starring Sir Alec Guinness and latterly the excellent motion picture featuring Gary Oldman. A lovely set.
