Dust jacket rubbed; toned spine panel with shallow chipping at ends; patches of surface abrasion and some chipping at front panel's bottom right corner; toning to white rear panel; some other nicks and scuffing. Gray cloth; white spotting to boards; light color fading to spine cloth. Edges and endpapers toned. Five-line ink inscription on front free endpaper: "For | Emmett Kilpatrick | with esteem | and warm good wishes | Hudson Strode." Interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. A very good- copy in a good+ dust jacket. Biographical blurb of author Alice Fellows on dj rear flap confirms what one would suspect from the presence of the Hudson Strode inscription: that the young author was a student of the legendary creative writing professor at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. Dr. Emmett Kilpatrick taught for many years at Troy State College (now Troy University) in Alabama. {LitShelf#1}.
