HARDBACK "UNCOMMON," SHIPPED FROM THE UK* Edition: 1st.* Impression: 1st.* Date of Publication: 1947* Publisher: * Binding and cover condition: Green cloth, White title to spine and face. Lightly bumped & rubbed, no other visible faults. VG* Jacket condition: No dust wrapper.* Contents condition: PRIVATE COPY NOT EX-LIBRARY. Clean, crisp and tight. No reading wear, no marks to text, light foxing to end papers and prelims but not to text block. VG* Illustrations: Beautiful black & white line drawings by C.F.TUNNICLIFFE throughout.* Pages: 111 pp. text.* Description: Country sketches, superbly illustrated by Tunnicliffe. The text was written during the war, which intrudes now and then including searchlights playing on the night sky in one of the illustrations. This is a story of the restoration of a Devonshire farm to its ?natural" state and excursions into the surrounding countryside detailing the wild life to be found there. Some of the full page illustrations, The Plough, The Dragonfly and the Fox for example, are among the Tunnicliffe?s best work. Most appear to be woodcuts or possibly scratchboard or lino cuts. The delicacy of line is remarkable and very atmospheric.* A NEAR FINE copy with ONLY SLIGHT FAULTS. No dust jacket.*. n.
