As well, Mrs. Field has tipped in throughout the book 6 photographs of herself; her son, Austin; Robert Louis Stevenson's mother; Fanny Stevenson with a Samoan girl; the RLS tomb at Vailima; and what appears to be Samoan artifacts. Most of these photographs have Mrs. Field's handwriting indicating the subject. At the end of thebook, Mrs. Field has tipped in a color illustrated print, with her handwritten note that it is her cottage at El Mirasol in Santa Barbara.
