Decorative coloured paper covered boards and blue cloth spine are a little worn at corners and bumped at head and foot of spine. The rear top corner particularly has a 1sqcm loss of coloured paper cover, and below it is a little creasing to the rear board. Acquired from Maud Lloyd, an admired leading dancer with Ballet Rambert in the 1930s. Later she wrote, with her husband, Nigel Gosling, influential dance books and reviews under the pseudonym, 'Alexander Bland'. When Rudolph Nureyev defected in 1961, they became his surrogate parents.
