No dust jacket (i.e. lacking). Brown boards; light scuffing/bumping at spine ends and board corners; slender shelf-wear along boards' bottom edges; spine's gilt lettering rather muted; light stains at boards' bottom center margins but evidenced more strongly upon the respective pastedowns. Light toning to text block's top edge; two small stains to upper fore-edge. Endpapers toned; soiling to front pastedown as well; four-line ink inscription "For Drew Shankle | With all good | wishes - | Lyndon B. Johnson" boldly written across most of front free endpaper; interior leaves are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. The inscribee is Drew Franklin Shankle Sr. (1907-1957) who was a longtime Mississippi journalist but, at the time of his passing by heart attack, was owner-publisher of two weekly newspapers in Texas which presumably led to his acquisition of this Johnson-inscribed copy.
