Appears that library lettering was removed at base. Top portion of half title page excised. Bright and clean internally with almost no library marks, except library stamp and number on title page. One plate has 2 separations at one fold. This was the ONLY volume published. Tenon was a celebrated Parisian anatomist, surgeon, and ophthalmologist, and this volume includes his famous description of the fibrous capsule and interfascial space of the orbit of the eye. THE COLLECTION OF TENON'S PAPERS ON THE EYE (WITH DESCRIPTION OF TENON'S CAPSULE) / A NICE COPY. Edition originale rare de ce recueil qui comporte 25 mémoires, dont douze consacrés à l'ophtalmologie. On y trouve notamment la traduction française de la thèse d'agrégation de chirurgie de l'auteur, parue en latin en 1755 (De cataracta). Le plus célèbre mémoire du recueil, intitulé Observations anatomiques sur quelques parties de l'oeil et des paupières (pp. 193-207), comporte une description précise de la capsule, de l'espace et de l'aponévrose orbitaires, auxquels le nom de Tenon est couramment attaché (éponymes). Il faut aussi citer un mémoire sur les différentes variantes anatomiques des fentes palatines.
