Though an effort has been made to bring the record of Arnold's letters to a reasonable degree of completeness, it is recognized that in a work of this sort finaility is not attainable and that any approximation to completeness needs the help of all holders, individual or institutional, of Arnold letters and of all students of Arnold and of his Victorian contemporaries and background.
