He became Oklahoma's first successful writer of detective novels. 'The Mexican Earth' is his only non-fiction work and was written after extensive excursions in Mexico. Written in first person prose, The Mexican Earth offers an in depth cultural, historical, and personal context of it's folk religions, daily customs, and history from the Aztec civilization and Spanish conquest to the Empire of Maximilian and the Mexican Revolution. The book expressively narrates the experience from the perspective of a writer who identified with the native Indios and indigenous point of view. Binding and pages are clean and tight. Minor edge wear and foxing to cover. Bottom right corner of dust jacket missing. Overall very good condition.
