Dedicatory Preface, Synopsis, Introductory, Conclusion, Appendices (French Ergonic Chart; Glossary; List of Phonetic Symbols), Index; 328 pages. The original pale-brown c…loth is very good, with darker-brown lettering clear on the spine and upper board. The interior leaves are bright and completely free of markings; however, a number of pages were opened a little roughly and have minor tears at the edges---none comes close to any of the text. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] There is a small chip from the bottom of the half-title page. The folding diagram on page 74 and the folding chart on page 282 are in fine shape. In the Dedicatory Preface to Monsieur Edouard Mathieu, the author reminisces about how they used to pass their leisure in examining aspects of what they came to call 'the Linguistic Problem': "In a recent letter you ask whether I have succeeded in correlating the various aspects of the problem in one homogenous system of linguistic pedagogy. My answer takes the form of the present book. . . ." As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage.
