VG+ to NF. ; B&W and Color Photographs; Oblong Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 47 pages; Ned Cartledge was a self-taught artist born in Canton Georgia. This book served as a catalogue for an exhibit of his work at the Georgia Museum of Art in 1986. Cartledge was unusual among outsider artists in that his work was primarily political and often attacked in subtle, satiric ways the longstanding beliefs of many Southernors. His painitngs were often critical of fundamentalist religion, racial bigotry and aggressive ignorance. Cartledge's work is now held in many important private and public collections. This copy is signed, inscribed and dated on the title page.
