Unclipped ($2.50) dust jacket is only fair, chipped at corners and along spine, with toning to spine. An absolutely delightful Prohibition-era guide to New York, laid out neighborhood by neighborhood with illustrations and plenty of commentary: 'I do not like the foyer of the Forrest Theatre, the pretentiousness of Reuben's, cocktails containing absinthe, and the bouncer at the Club Elite. I prefer the Colony Restaurant's entrees to the majority of its patrons. I regret that Columbus Avenue's Old Landmark isn't what it used to be. I have never witnessed anything worth a cent at the Cherry Lane Theatre. I admire the divan seats at the Capitol. I believe Manhattan night life to be gayer than that of London, less genuine than Berlin's, and more amusing than that of Paris. I believe that whether there be speakeasies or not New York will always have night clubs. I regret that some of the spots mentioned in this book have probably gone out of business.'
