Ajouter au panierPaperback. Etat : Very Good. Inspired by Samuel Foote's poem, 'The Grand Panjandrum', The Object Lesson presents a stunning series of seemingly random and unrelated events. A missing artificial limb, ghostly spectres and the statue of Corrupted Endeavour all have a place in this enigmatic tale, which combines elements of French surrealism, Japanese haiku and lots of good fun. With its humorous obscurity and puzzling intriques, The Object Lesson delights and provokes. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. GOREY, Edward [30] pp. Doubleday & Company, Inc 1958 First Edition 6 1/4" x 8 3/4" The Object-Lesson (1958) is a picture book by Edward Gorey.[1] A work of surrealist art and literature, it is typical of Gorey's avant-garde style of storytelling, with Victorian and Edwardian-esque line drawings and settings, each described with a sentence fragment which adds to a larger continuous narrative. The pictures and text combine to tell a strange and obscure story. Although internally consistent, coherent, and structured, the story has a disjointed and disorienting quality, with melancholic and morbidly humorous effects.
