Ajouter au panierHard Cover. Etat : Very Good+ binding. Octavo. 141 pp., frontis, plates. First edition. Signed by Alice Parker Buck below the printed dedication. As issued, in publisher's cloth. A very bright copy with minor darkening to the spine; foxing to the endpapers and occasional light soiling and toning to the contents; one inked note in the margin otherwise clean. Published posthumously by Buck's widow, who compiled it from his letters and manuscript recollections. An abundance of good content, Buck takes the reader through the organization of Company H eventually of the 13th VA Infantry (The Bommerangs), into which he mustered as a private. Material on Jackson's Valley Campaign, Sharpsburg, Second Manassas, and much more. Extremely rare in commerce, with a single auction record from 2004. Institutional holdings are limited to just over a dozen. Even the Butternut & Blue reprint of 1983 isn't abundantly available. Dornbusch II, 1383.
