Ajouter au panierTaschenbuch. Etat : Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - For decades, educators incorrectly warned parents that raising children with two languages would cause developmental delays and 'confuse' their growing brains. Modern neuroscience has completely reversed this stance. Forcing a brain to manage two competing vocabularies does not cause confusion; it triggers a massive neurological workout that fundamentally upgrades the brain's 'Executive Function.'This educational text explores the physical neuroplasticity of bilingualism. When a bilingual person looks at an apple, their brain instantly activates two completely different words for the object. To speak without stuttering, the brain must aggressively suppress one language while elevating the other. This constant, subconscious mental juggling acts as resistance training for the frontal lobe.We dissect the data proving that this daily neurological workout makes bilingual individuals measurably superior at ignoring irrelevant distractions, multitasking, and blocking out background noise. Furthermore, we analyze how this dense 'cognitive reserve' physically delays the onset of dementia symptoms by up to five years in late adulthood.Train the muscle of the mind. Understand the biological proof that mastering a second language builds an impenetrable shield of focus in the human brain.

Ajouter au panierNo Binding. Etat : Very Good. St. Mark's / San Marco. Tremendous chromolithograph (artistically and physically speaking)! Facade of St. Marks/San Marco. This is a very large chromolithograph of the main portal of the Basilica of San Marco in Venice, Italy, published by Ferdinando Ongania (1842-1911) in "Basilica di San Marco in Venezia" published in 1881-1887. It was printed via chromolithography by Eduard Holzel in Vienna after the original artwork by Silvio Risegari and published by Ferdinando Ongania in Venice. (Ferdinando Ongania was a Venetian publisher and bookseller best known for publishing the monumental book La Basilica San Marco in Venezia. Ongania published more than 170 books, mainly about Venice, and was renowned for the beauty and technicality of his work, all of which was of high craftsmanship with leading technology and scholarly detail.) The chromolithograph appeared in the massive La Basilica di San Marino du Venezia, published by the prolific Ferdinand Ongania in 1886. It is an exhaustive study of the iconic building, the publication being known chiefly I think for its very large and sumptuous chromolithographs of the building's architecture, art, and endless detail. The image is quite large at 27x21", 68x53cm, and packed with detail, and is printed on a very thick paper that will break if you try the double-fold test, so although the paper is stable you do not want to bend it, though you wouldn't want to do that, anyway. Each sheet has a protective paper guard attached to it on the left side, covering the entire image. NOTE: there is a small 30x10mm oval rubber stamp at the bottom right corner that is about 50% faded away, and which could be easily hidden by matting if you intend to frame this print. Also there are several short tears along the margin edges including a 2"x1/2" chunk of the margin that is missing at the bottom left.

Ajouter au panierNo Binding. Etat : Very Good. St. Mark's / San Marco. The Story of Creation. Tremendous chromolithograph (artistically and physically speaking)! Mosaic in St. Marks/San Marco. Offered here is a single print, a very large chromolithograph of a ceiling/cupola mosaic of the story of creation of the Basilica of San Marco in Venice, Italy, published by Ferdinando Ongania (1842-1911) "Basilica di San Marco in Venezia" published in 1881-1887. This is known as the Genesis Cupola in the west narthex, and is an early 13th-century mosaic cycle that illustrates the opening chapters of Genesis. It was printed via chromolithography by A. Osterrieth after the original artwork of Luigi Gaspari and published by Ferdinando Ongania in Venice in 1883 (dated in the plate). It is listed as plate 20 from the Ongania work. The "timeline" depicts the 6 days, dam and Eve, Life in Eden, the Fall, judegment and expulsion, and then post-Fall. I think. (Ferdinando Ongania was a Venetian publisher and bookseller best known for publishing the monumental book La Basilica San Marco in Venezia. Also there are several short tears along the margin edges. ALSO: there is uniform foxing in the paper that is apparent on the reverse of the image but very hard to find on the face of the print given the huge amount of colorful decorations. I've added a pic of what the foxing looks like in a small area of unadorned paper on the face of the print. THIRDLY, there are occasional short tears here and there in the margins. Still, a VERY GOOD copy of this difficult-to-find print.
