With author's facsimile inscription at bottom margin of b/w frontispiece portrait plate which retains a foxed tissue guard sheet. Additional text added from earlier editions (the 1893 first edition was only 625 pages). Features a compilation of poems, letters, and other writings by William David Upshaw who later founded the Atlanta, Georgia pro-Prohibition weekly magazine "The Golden Age" in 1906 and was elected as a Democrat for four terms to the United States House of Representatives serving from March 4, 1919 to March 3, 1927.
