Etat : Fair. 1858. Unpaginated. Red leather with gilt decoration and lettering. Black and white illustrative plates within, one detached. Two parts in one book, thus unpaginated. Pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, with moderate foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. Publication of 111 pages, Early edition 1860. Starts on the title page. All edges gilt and also on the spine and decoration on the front of the book. The boards are a little shelf rubber. On the inner board there are minor marks. There is foxing on the early and last pages, little within the body of the book. The text remains legible. Full-Leather. Etat : Near Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. Embossed marroon leather with gold lettering. Very minor wear at the fore corners. Leather is not faded or worn. Gold lettering is bright. An 1860 inscription on the second blank page. Very sparce foxing to the pages. No tanning. No odor. Hinges are fine.

Etat : Very Good. xxxv, 7-112; xv, 16-111 pages; Original owner brief inscription "For my dear daughter-in-law / Annie / 1872" otherwise clean and tight in original decorative green leather binding with impression of an elaborate urn at the center of front and rear boards and multiple gilt borders, five raised bands, gilt lettering and decorative devices at spine. Some minor rubbing at corners and edges of boards. Steel engraved frontispiece titled "The Pleasures of Hope" depicting a shepherd and his dog gazing into a valley with sheep; six additional full page engravings, all with tissue guards. Each of the two collections of poems is preceded by a biography of the poet.
