Edited, with notes, by Arnold Palmer. Artists were commissioned by the Ministry of Labour to supply artworks depicting buildings and landscapes relating to the work of the Admiralty, the War Office, the Air Ministry and other subjects of national importance considered at risk from developers and of course the coming war. The volumes are split by counties, most of which are represented save some left unrecorded at the time of publishing due to the dangers of wartime. The general arrangement is a full page tinted or coloured watercolour print with an adjacent page of notes by the named artist. Spines are moderately sunned with the silver titles etc reasonably legible and distinct. Boards are all clean and sound. Light to moderate foxing to endpapers and prelims, text clean and sound. Some foxing to text block trims, not affecting text. Bindings all tight. Overall a VG set. A heavy set of books weighing c4800g when suitably wrapped, exceeding the default postage quotation weight of 1000g and thus requiring the extra postage at cost to be requested at the time of the order forUK and overseas orders.
