Inhaltlich bis heute kaum wahrgenommener, obwohl zwischen 1857 und 1870 in mindestens 16 Auflagen erschienener Auswandererführer des als Lehrer in Alzey angestellten Franz Joseph Ennemoser (nicht zu verwechseln mit dem nahezu namensgleichen Arzt und Anhänger Mesmers). Geschildert wird (mit umfangreichen praktischen Tipps) Vorbereitung und Durchführung der Überfahrt, die Ennemoser mit Frau und drei Töchtern unternommen hatte, und die direkt von Le Havre nach New Orleans führte. Es folgt eine umfangreiche, das Informative betonende Darstellung der Stadt selbst, die Ennemoser nicht verlassen zu haben scheint, und allgemeine Äußerungen über das Leben in den Vereinigten Staaten. Der Schilderung der Rückreise schließen sich im Anhang mehrere Kurzgeschichten belehrenden Charakters an. Ennemoser sieht die Auswanderungsbewegung sehr kritisch und warnt intensiv vor hochgespannten Erwartungen und vor den zahlreichen Gefahren, die der Auswanderungswillige zu gewärtigen hat.
