Benjamin, 1963, x, 166pp., sewn PAPERBACK, worn and used copy with previous owner's meaningful pencil notations on about 5 pages, previous owner's name in ink. Series: Lecture notes and supplements in physics. Rolf Hagedorn received his Ph.D. at Göttingen as a student of Richard Becker (thermal physics). Began work in 1954 at CERN Geneva where he developed the statistical theory of meson production. His student Johann Rafelski recalled: "Before the period 196484, the Fermi hadronization model had been falling into oblivion, and statistical methods were not accepted by particle physicists. Hagedorn single-handedly and against significant and important opposition opened up the study of thermal properties of strongly interacting matter.".
