With original unclipped (and unpriced) jacket. Illustrated by the author. Plain brown (used to be green?) paper jacket with brown lettering to front has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, patchy loss, numerous marks, foxing, browning, creasing/rubbing to edges, pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, pushing/bumping to corners, foxing, tears, rubbing, patchy loss to top surface, is a little fragile and is in only fair condition. Boards are very good (having been generally well protected by the jacket) with a little pushing/bumping to corners, few (large) marks, patchy browning (including to/near upper edge), the odd spot of foxing, patchy rubbing to edges, the odd small bump and a little pushing/rubbing/bumping to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Pages are tanned. Previous owner's name in pen to front end-paper. Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges, tops and bottoms. Inside boards/end-papers tanned with minor foxing/few (large) marks. Occasional small marks/(quite) severe scattered foxing to pages. No other faults. All books described honestly and accurately. First Edition. 1906 1st edition hardcover in glossy illustrated paper covered boards with bumped and rubbed tips and spine ends, grey cloth covered spine rubbed round at ends with color loss but no splits. Rear cover is glossy plain cream colored paper. 'Jack Bartlett Xmas 1906' written on upper tip of charmingly illustrated fep with fox hunting scene of Sammy in green ink on cream ground. 24pp sewn in text is tight and browned at edges but not brittle. Occasional soil in page margin, no tears or major issues. Book comes in a professional reproduction of the original jacket showing a cursive written title, author and publisher info. Sammy the clothespin doll spends his day preparing for, riding in, and putting away his mount after the fox hunt. Darling art, one full color full page plate opposite one page of simple cursive-written text. Uncommon and a darling gift for the hunter who has 'everything'.
