This book compiles data from 59 wholesale grass and legume seed dealers to provide a broad overview of the seed industry during this time, focusing primarily on the methods in which seeds traveled from the farm to the consumer. Changes in the industry, such as increasing demand and regional specialization, are also explored. The study provides insight into the practices of the seed industry during this period, the changes that were occurring within it at the time, and also provides a benchmark against which more recent practices within the industry can be compared.
