Hirzel (1725-1803), "premier Médécin de la République de Zurich", dedicata a Mirabeau, "l'Ami des Hommes", e contenente anche due lettere dello stesso Mirabeau al traduttore. L'intento dell'autore è quello di mettere al centro dell'attenzione del "philosophe" la "classe des Cultivateurs", vero fondamento della società, e propone varie misure di incoraggiamento e di incentivazione di nuove pratiche colturali adatte al territorio agricolo di Zurigo. Al centro dell'opera vi è un personaggio reale, una sorta di coltivatore-modello soprannominato Klyogg, la cui conduzione viene indicata come modello per tutta la regione: una sorta di idealizzazione bucolica della filosofia fisiocratica. Qualche anno dopo l'autore pubblicò anche Le Paysan Philosophe. (Bibliogr. Agronomique, n. 1772). Arthur Young a utilisé cette édition française pour son édition anglaise.
