Ajouter au panier19th edition. Paged as i-lx, 1-696, [697-698] with pagination including front and rear boards. Semi-rigid boards (more or less a hardcover): H 17.5cm x L 12cm. No dust jacket. Brownish-orange cloth with dulled but legible gilt stamping to spine and front board; shallow chipping at spine heel with small losses at board's bottom edges and bottom corners. Soiling and some wax pencil discoloration to fore-edge; interior leaves have shallow jagged chipping/wear at bottom corners but not affecting text; leaves towards book's rear have shallow faint to light staining at fore-edge margins contributing to some short tears. Binding is firm. A good copy. Title/copyright on page li. Large color foldout map present tipped-in at page lviii; a few b/w maps amongst text. Advertisements (many for British shipping and travel-related firms) primarily at front and rear but with some scattered amongst text which reviews travel options, excursions, etc. country by country from Argentina and Chile to Mexico and including a good section on Cuba plus brief summaries of Atlantic and Caribbean islands/nations including the Canaries, Teneriffe [Tenerife], Azores, Bermudas, Bahamas, Jamaica, Santo Domingo, Haiti, Curacao, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, etc. At least one 1941 event (the February fire in the Spanish port city of Santander) is mentioned within the text. The Preface on page lii mentions that the book is the third edition "we have produced since the world war began" but no other citations of World War II are readily apparent upon a quick perusal. Intended as a 1942 travel guidebook, the publication was undoubtedly prepared mid-1941 and issued in the later months of the year.
