Watson in 1917, following the United States' entry into World War 1. The author delves into the historical context, examining how America's motivations for joining the war were significantly different from those espoused by the President and government. Drawing on legal and historical sources, the author challenges the legality of conscription, and the violations of individual liberty that accompanied America's mobilization for war. By analyzing the speech's themes and arguments, the author sheds light on the ongoing debate about the proper role of government and the limits of individual freedom in times of international conflict. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
