Pages 1- 4 have a small piece missing from the margins; many pages have smudges and light stains and/or some foxing; the front hinge is weak but holding; the corners are worn; the spine is very faded; the cover edges are worn. Back inner hinge partly cracked, front hinge has loosened, some finger marks to text, etc. Overall VG copy of a book on thick paper, whose binding can easily split. How Alice's doll is taken by a dog, she becomes ill & Dr. McDowell helps her back to health with a new doll. Charming story & period illustrations. The third doll title in Gates' series. Scarce title.
