Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In the geologic timescale, the Berriasian is an age or stage of the Early or Lower Creteceous. It is the oldest or lowest subdivision in the entire Cretaceous. It spanned between 145.5 ± 4.0 Ma and 140.2 ± 3.0 Ma (million years ago). The Berriasian succeeds the Tithonian (part of the Jurassic) and precedes the Valanginian.…

Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Barremian is an age in the geologic timescale (or a chronostratigraphic stage) between 130.0 ± 1.5 Ma (million years ago) and 125.0 ± 1.0 Ma). It is a subdivision of the Early Cretaceous epoch (or Lower Cretaceous series). It is preceded by the Hauterivian and followed by the Aptian stage. The Barremian falls in the Gallic epoch, a subdivision of the Cretaceous that is no longer used by the ICS. It overlaps the lower part of the Urgonian stage, which is sometimes used in western European stratigraphy. In North America, the late Coahulian and the early Comanchean correspond to the Barremian. In New Zealand, it falls within the Mokoiwian, and in Japan it corresponds to the late Aritan.…

The Messinian isin the geologic timescale the last age or uppermost stage of theMiocene. It spans the time between 7.246 ± 0.005 Ma and 5.332 ± 0.005 Ma(million years ago). It follows the Tortonian and is followed by theZanclean, the first age of the Pliocene. The Messinian overlaps theTurolian European Land Mammal Mega Zone (more precise MN 12 and 13) andthe Pontian Central European Paratethys stage. It also overlaps the lateHuayquerian and early Montehermosan South American Land Mammal Ages, andfalls inside the more extensive Hemphillian North American Land MammalAge.…

A Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point, abbreviated GSSP, is an internationally agreed upon stratigraphic section which serves as the reference section for a particular boundary on the geologic time scale. The effort to define GSSPs is conducted by the International Commission on Stratigraphy, a part of the International Union of Geological Sciences. Most, but not all, GSSPs are based on paleontological changes. Hence GSSPs are usually described in terms of transitions between different faunal stages, though far more faunal stages have been described than GSSPs. The GSSP definition effort commenced in 1977. As of 2004, 45 of the 96 GSSPs required have been approved.…

Coelurus is agenus of coelurosaur dinosaur from the Late Jurassic period. The namemeans 'hollow tail', referring to its hollow tail vertebrae. Althoughits name is linked to one of the main divisions of theropods, it hashistorically been poorly understood, and sometimes confused with itsbetter-known contemporary Ornitholestes. Like many dinosaurs studied inthe early years of paleontology, it has had a confusing taxonomichistory, with several species being named and later transferred to othergenera or abandoned. Only one species is currently recognized as valid:the type species, C. fragilis, described by Othniel Charles Marsh in1879. It is known from one partial skeleton found in the MorrisonFormation of Wyoming, United States. It was a small bipedal carnivorewith elongate legs.…

Taschenbuch. Etat : Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articlesavailable from Wikipedia or other free sources online.Iguanodon is agenus of ornithopod dinosaur that lived roughly halfway between thefirst of the swift bipedal hypsilophodontids and the ornithopods'culmination in the duck-billed dinosaurs. Many species of Iguanodon havebeen named, dating from the Kimmeridgian age of the Late Jurassic Periodto the Cenomanian age of the Late Cretaceous Period from Asia, Europeand North America. However, research in the first decade of the 2000ssuggests that there is only one well-substantiated species: I.bernissartensis, that lived from the Barremian to the early Aptian(Early Cretaceous) in Europe, between about 130 and 120 million yearsago. Iguanodon's most distinctive features were its large thumb spikeswhich were possibly used for defence against predators and foraging forfood. Discovered in 1822 and described three years later by Englishgeologist Gideon Mantell, Iguanodon was the second dinosaur formallynamed, after Megalosaurus. Together with Megalosaurus and Hylaeosaurusit was one of the three genera originally used to define Dinosauria.…
