In the 1930s, he turned to detective novels with a series of English thrillers featuring Jimmie Rezaire, a sympathetic former con man turned private detective. At the same time, he wrote several successful detective plays for London theaters. One of these, Ten-Minute Alibi (1933), which presents a perfect crime and its consequences minute by minute, became a triumph and was performed on stages all over the world. Uncommon novelization of the mystery play that ran for 857 performances in London and served as the basis for the 1935 black and white talking film directed by Bernard Vorhaus and starring Phillips Holmes and Aileen Marson. "Ten-Minute Alibi, which shows every minute a perfect crime and its consequences". Very Good but for much discoloration to cloth due to moisture exposure, in Very Good dustjacket, couple of shallow edge chips and wear, some modest foxing or soiling to panels.

The front panel's lower corner is price clipped, and the bottom edge along with the joints and spine of the top edge are taped to the underside. Jacket lightly surface soiled, with a little foxing and a few nicks & creases to edges. A very good copy in like jacket. The narrative from the famous play of the same name translated into well over twenty languages, and also adapted for film the year after publication. Scarce, especially so in the original art deco influenced dust-jacket.
