Octavo in original brown cloth, with gilt lettering to spine and blind-stamped floral-borders; gilt centerpiece of painter's palette and brushes to front board. 217p + 6p publisher's ads. Frontis, one plate. General George Stone's copy, with his signature. Stone fought in the Civl War for the Union and moved to San Francisco where he was in charge of US Customs. Mild wear to exterior, slight foxing, minor damp stain to margin of a few pages; else a tight and crisp copy. Overall Very Good.
