Hardcover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition. A good hardback first edition without a dust jacket. With illustrations, a ground floor plan and folding pedigree, all of which are present. 348 numbered pages. All edges gilt. The cloth is lightly rubbed, and there is a bit of creasing to the head and tail of the spine and to the four outer corners. A private book plate is stuck to the front paste-down, and there is some foxing to the opening and closing pages. The binding is secure and the main contents are clean and complete. There are some page reference annotations (in biro) in the top left-hand corner of the rear paste-down (see image), and some short marginal lines on the corresponding pages. The book is protected by a non-adhesive transparent dust jacket. (I removed the jacket when taking the photographs to avoid glare/reflection). Overall, a good hardback first edition, but with some annotations on the rear paste-down and some very short marginal lines on a small number of pages. Collated and complete.

With 66 black and white plates including a frontispiece, one plan, and a very large folding pedigree. Contemporary navy full polished calf, with raised bands, gilt titles to contrasting red and orange labels, and very striking Art Nouveau gilt decoration to spine. All edges gilt, marbled endpapers, and gilt dentelle to turn-ins. Large but attractive black ink gift inscription to first blank, dated 1946. Gently toned throughout, otherwise internally clean. Spine sunned and toned, with moderate general wear, especially to joints, just starting. Very good.
