Stated "First Printing" preceded by a series of copyright dates, the latest being 1953; no other indication of printing history. 9-1/8" tall, 144 numbered pages includes a 1-page index. Medium blue cloth boards with black cloth quarter binding, silver lettering on the spine and front board; plain ivory end pages. Book is square with strong hinges; light foxing to end pages; top 1-1/2 inches of both boards lightly flecked, as though moisture was splashed on them; upper outside corner of rear board nibbled, board exposed for 5/8" in length; lower corner of front board lightly bumped. Jacket is intact with slight creasing on lower front corner; light chipping to all four front corners and rear top two corners; top rear corner is worst with 1" x 1-1/4" chip; spine sunned but all lettering perfectly readable; the publisher's original "$3.50" price is still on flap; both corners of front flap are clipped but it appears that this was the way it was manufactured. No other discernible or objectionable faults on book or jacket such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. No remainder mark, no previous owner markings or inscriptions, not price clipped, not a book club edition, not a former library book.
