Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Book has a slight forward lean. Moderate crushing to spine ends, with splitting to joints, fraying to the head, tail.Sunning to spine. Gilt lettering is bright and clear.

This is a UK hardcover first edition published by Hurst, Chance & Co (London) The book is in Good condition overall, with straight spine, sharp but scuffed corners and lightly softened spine ends. However the red boards are faded front and back and the spine ends are rubbed - see photos. The interior text is clean although the page edges are toned. Occasionally there is feint foxing to some of the pages but this does not affect legibility. It needs noted the seam is split when you open the book but the boards and text block are still firmly attached to each other. There may or may not be a blank opening end paper missing - I don't know; it doesn't look like it but the book opens up to the title page which is unusual. The title page confirms the publication in 1828.
